Genres: comedy, action
Objectionable content: mature – mature themes, partial nudity
Okay so we go from the mostly serious main storyline to completely hilarious Every day in the blink of an eye.
Code geass queen is a bunch of short stories that focus on comedy meant for the male crowd, while its inverse code geass Knight is meant for the female crowd. It is mostly comedy or alternate telling’s of minor story points such as villetas amnesia. While it is not meant to be taken seriously I do believe that some points are meant to be considered canon, such as leloush’s incompetence at driving a knightmare.
Considering its comedic mentality combined with the odd side points that may or not be canon I do honeslty recommend it to anyone looking for a good laugh at the expense of all the characters.
Character interactions/relations: 6.7
Themes: fanservice, mecha, military, witches, weapons
Objectionable content: moderate – blood, violence, mature themes
Picking up where the second season of strike witches left off, yoshika miyafuji and major sakamoto have both returned to fuso with no magic to go back to their lives, sakamoto as a military teacher and miyafuji as a student of medacine so she can become a doctor of normal means not magic. After a meeting with a new fusio witch by the name of shizuka hattori and the chance to study medicine at the greatest school in Europe, miyafuji goes with hattori as her bodyguard.
Once in Europe after many clashes between miyafuji’s personality and hattories military strictness they meet up with some of the old 501st bringing back memories and happiness, but on the way to the school miyafuji and hattori go awry to help a village and encounter a new kind of neuroi, subterranean ones.
Basially I really like how this one pick up where the second season leaves off, especially since the 501st reforms( again) to battle the newest neuroi threat. For a full length movie it is very well done and the perfect hinge to start the third season that is obviously soon to come!
Themes: idols, mecha, music
Objectionable content: mild
Guerrilla warfare idols equipped with floating dance platforms living lights and mecha. Pretty much tells you about ¾ of this entire series.
Okay so not quite.
In a future time when the earth seems to be no longer habitable humans have colonized many worlds, and on most of them entertainment and anything else that “disturbs the heart” is illegal. In the middle of this is a group of idols that fight to give planets the entertainment they desire. The group AKB0048 is more of a generational group as each year they get more people joining who try to take over for older people.
This anime is centered around the girls of the 77th generation who try to prove themselves to the fans of akb0048 while they try to discover themselves.
In all honesty, if seeing that this is a mecha made you want to watch it don’t, the mecha bits are small and far between. The anime itself focuses on the music and the drama between characters and does this very well luckily. I’ll also point out that the music/dance scenes in this anime jump between animation and CG relatively often and almost seamlessly allowing the dance scenes to work very well, later in the anime I caught myself attempting to sing along to some songs.
Basically what I’m saying here is that the story and relations between characters if great and the actual dances are not bad either, and with the somewhat dark side story that develops it keeps you guessing and hoping the second season that is currently coming out answers your questions and my own about how things will progress..
Character interactions/relations: 9.4
Themes: mecha, military, politics, guns, wepons
Objectionable content: significant- significant violence, blood and gore and mature themes
This would make a very good storyline for a science fiction first person shooter ( or third person shooter).
Human technology has progressed to such an extent that cybernetics, robotics and computerized intelligences are the norm, and it could be used to create human androids that would be impossible to distinguish from normal humans. To stop this the united nations makes the creation of human android and cybernetics illegal, japan however is adamantly against this and fights these new rules fiercely. After many repeated attempts japan does the unthinkable and leaves the UN, taking up a policy of international isolation witch is realized though advanced technology that stops them from being seen or heard of. After ten years of international isolation Japanese international activity of an unknown actions is discovered and it is decided that the American special forces group known as sword will investigate.
Now that Ive given you the introduction lets actually talk about what it means.
Vexille has a lot of action in it, mainly with mechanized armored suits ( or mad max style junk cars) with a few simple chase scenes in foot. The reason for this is that all of japan is nonexistent and the only habitat for “people” is a slums with few hiding spots, and although this makes some scenes oddly boring they still hold your attention throughout. The action itself is very heavy having much violence and loss of life on quite a few fronts and it luckily does not draw away from the story, witch is the main point here. The story itself is actually a rather interesting one that could in the next 200+ years come true in all honesty, lets just hope it does not.
Simply put instead of a full anime I’ve watched the first episodes of a few of the new anime coming out presently. Most only have one or two episodes out so the storyline still has room to grow for most so I shall not be judging them with a number but with just my thought on them from seeing the first episode.
Genres: action, psychological, sci-fi
Themes: unknown( as in we don’t know yet)
Objectionable content: intense violence and gore.
Okay so from the first look it seems that in the world there is an online game called btoom, in it people fight with sonar and bombs, that’s it. Sakamoto ryota is a college reject who lives with his mom and is the best player of btoom in japan who one day wakes up on a island with a pouch of bombs exactly like those in the game and then is attacked by another person who he ends up killing, violently.
Is it just me or does this sound like a combination of halo and bomber man? Honestly I’m not expecting too much from this anime personally as the plot thus far seems kind of dry to what it could be, and the action looks to be the only thing that’s good as the character interaction is very little.
Genres: action, comedy, sci-fi, slice of life
Themes: living dolls, mecha
Objectionable content: light violence (so far)
Okay I seriously thought that the character in this were cheap knock off of infinite stratos when I first saw them honesty.
Basically in the world there are 15 cm, dolls called shinki who have personalities all their own who serve only their one master. These shinki can dawn armour to fight each other fpr multiple reasons.
The anime itself seems to be mostly following the high schools freshman rihito’s three shinki more than him in the anime and show the mischief and fun they get into. It is very comedic and does do a good job of explaining things when the action or story gets a little slow.
Girls und panzer
Genres: action, school, tanks, war
Objectionable content: potential violence?
This anime ought to be paid for by the mmo world of tanks!
In a world where the art of combatting tanks is considered an art akin to flower arrangement there are schools that have it in their curriculum. Miho is a girl who has transferred schools to get away from her bad memories of this but as she transfers in they bring it back to this school and coerce her into it again.
We don’t see too much action in the first episode except for a foreshadow event at the start of the episode but this first episode does do a good job of setting up some background and character relations. I think this anime has the potential to be good or bad, though I must admit the animating for the tanks look s like they stole the sprites from world of tanks a bit as the tanks are all done.
Genres: comedy, romance, school
Themes: forbidden love, harem,
Objectionable content: slight( well this is comedic incest)
Okay so why is it I’m getting a vibe similar to kisssxsis here? Oh wait that’s because they both have a major plot point of forbidden love to a sibling!!
Okay so Akito Himenokōji lives at his school dorms and his twin sister whom he has not seen for six years akiko has come to the same school and is going to be staying at the same dorms as him. Only thing is she’s a pervert who is intent on getting together with her brother, and the lengths and miscommunications between them are ridiculous indeed.
Honestly this one has a lot of potential as it’s a harem anime were akiko is fighting or her brothers love with three other girls but honestly it still just ends up being a forbidden love story, so if that’s your thing then here ya go
So that’s all I’ll be commenting on for now, but please do comment on what you think these anime shall become or whatever your thoughts on them may be!
